Three men were arrested in connection with drugs worth R4.6-million in Bishop Lavis and Athlone in Cape Town, Western Cape police said on Saturday.

Inspector Bernadine Steyn said the first two men, aged 42 and 43, were arrested around 4.30pm on Thursday when police stopped their white Honda Ballade in Athlone and searched the car.

Police discovered 500 grams of Tik worth approximately R150 000 in the car.

The two would appear before the Athlone Magistrate's Court on Monday on a charge of dealing in drugs.

The 46-year-old man was arrested around 4pm on Friday after police followed a tip-off to his garage on Modderdam road in Bishop Lavis.

During a search police confiscated four kilograms of heroin, three kilograms of Tik, 2000 Mandrax tablets and one kilogram of Ephedrine found in two rooms and a bathroom on the premises.

The total value of the drugs was estimated at R4.5-million.

Police also recovered two SAPS bullet-proof jackets that were found in a parked VW Fox on the premises.

The man was allegedly the manager of the garage and the owner of the Fox.

He would appear before the Bishop Lavis Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of dealing in drugs and possession of suspected stolen property, said Steyn.
