A Worcester NGO wants Western Cape Premier Helen Zille to set up a commission of inquiry into drug abuse in the province.
Varying studies done in recent years show there’s a desperate need for more rehabilitation facilities as the cape is still struggling to deal with high levels of drug abuse.
Anthony Hall, founder of Recovering Addicts Empowering Lives, believes very little is being done to improve measures to address the problem.
“Children are dying, as young as seven and eight-years-old are addicted to drugs. We can’t fight it alone, we need education in our schools and we believe that our children are being so badly affected that it’s harming them at schools.”
