A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Wednesday afternoon on the N1 north between Malibongwe and William Nicol Drive.
Johannesburg emergency services spokesperson Percy Morokane said the man was allegedly swaying through traffic on a black Harley Davidson at a high speed.
He lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the rear of a stationary 18-wheeler trailer truck at 4pm.
Paramedics declared him dead and believed that the likely cause of death was a broken neck.
He was identified by his parents and brother as Charl Delport.
A charge of culpable homicide would be investigated against the truck driver, said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.
