The two men accused of murdering BMW manager Solomon Maritz in Constantia Park east of Pretoria were found guilty by the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Thursday, the SABC reported.

Patrick Sithole (35), and Frans Mthabezitha (25), both from Mozambique, were found guilty of murder and assault by Judge Vivian Thlapi.

Sentencing was scheduled for 10 November.

Maritz was killed on 15 July 2007 at his home in Constantia Park.

Maritz, his wife and daughter were attacked when they arrived home from a wedding at 1am.

Two men, one of the armed with a pistol, confronted them in the driveway.

In a struggle, Maritz was shot once in his chest and died on scene. The robbers took his daughter's cell phone and R850.

A neighbour said he heard a shot and Maritz screaming.

As the unidentified neighbour looked over the wall, he saw Maritz lying on the patio and a man holding his daughter by her throat.

He fired his pistol and shot one robber in the hip. This robber jumped over a fence, tearing his pants. The other robber also fled, leaving behind his shoes.

Police soon afterwards found the two accused, one with a gunshot wound and the other without shoes. They were in possession of cash and a cell phone stolen from Maritz and his daughter.
