Gauteng Premier Paul Mashatile has called on ANC members in the Tshwane region to maximise unity to undermine any external efforts aimed at weakening the organisation.
Speaking at the Regional General Council in Tshwane on Sunday, Mashatile called all members to respect one another and engage in political discussion with respect and dignity.
The meeting was organised to deliberate on current developments in the organisation, including the resignation of senior party leaders who expressed the desire to form a new political party, led by Terror Lekota and Mbhazima Shilowa.
Regional chairperson Bheki Nkosi said the ANC was unanimous in its decision for the ANC to remain united and do all in its power to keep all its members and leaders within its ranks.
"Unity, tolerance and discipline are the pillars on which the region will weather the storm of the current political dynamics and confusion," he said.
"It is the keen belief of the council that the ANC remains on track and focused on the national transformation agenda guided by the Freedom Charter."
Got something to say?
