A fifth Jeppestown massacre accused was convicted in the Johannesburg High Court on Tuesday afternoon.

Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng pronounced a guilty verdict against Sizwe Dlamini shortly before adjourning the case to Wednesday, saying Dlamini had consistently contradicted himself regarding his whereabouts on 25 June, 2006.

"He was an evasive witness. When he was caught in discrepancies, he blamed poor interpreters," Mokgoatlheng said.

Earlier on Tuesday, the judge convicted Khumbulani Mabaso and Sizwe Mbuyazi on charges of murder, attempted murder and robbery.

Like Dlamini, the two men were placed at the scene of the bloody Jeppestown shootout by gun powder residue on them.

Having convicted Senzo Emmanuel Mweli, and Nkosinathi Mzamo Mchunu on Monday, the judge was expected to move on to the remaining seven accused on Wednesday morning.

The only female accused in the case, Dineo Mary Maleke, has been acquitted on all charges.
