A fifteen-year-old boy drowned at Ellis dam in Grasmere, Johannesburg emergency management services said on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Nana Radebe said the incident happened on Tuesday morning and the body was recovered at 5pm.

She urged young children not to swim in dams as it was "too dangerous".
