Six men stole an undisclosed amount of money after they blew up an automated teller machine in Dutywa on Wednesday, said Eastern Cape police.

Captain Jackson Manatha said the heavily-armed men bombed the ATM, at a Netbank branch on Mthatha Road, around 2am.

"We only know that the men fled the scene in the direction of Mthatha."

No shots were fired and no one was injured. Police are investigating a case of bank robbery. Anyone with information about the crime was urged to call the investigating officer on 083-243- 2024.
