Eight armed men robbed three jewellery shops in the Clearwater Mall, Johannesburg on Monday morning, police said.

At about 5am, the men drove onto the Clearwater Mall premises in Honeydew in two BMWs, said police inspector Tebogo Kgomo.

They held the security guards at gunpoint and broke into three jewellery shops.

The men fled the scene with an undisclosed amount worth of jewellery.

No one was injured and no shots were fired.

No arrests have been made but police are investigating a case of armed robbery.
