The ANC's national disciplinary committee has upheld the decision on the dismissal of three of its Breedevallei municipal councillors in the Western Cape, the party said on Thursday.
African National Congress spokesperson Jessie Duarte said the three councillors, Luvuyo Kelepu, Freddie Speelman and Bettie Fortuin, were last month found guilty by the ANC Western Cape disciplinary committee for signing a motion of no-confidence in the ANC leadership. "After hearing the matter yesterday [Wednesday], the National Disciplinary Committee of Appeal (NDCA) upheld the decision of the provincial disciplinary committee and ruled that the three be expelled from the ANC with immediate effect," she said in a statement. She said the ANC was ready to act against any public representatives or members "who flagrantly and deliberately violate the ANC Constitution or the decisions of its constitutional structures".Sapa
