Copper cable, electric train cables, train tracks and three motor vehicle engines worth around R4-million were recovered at a scrap yard in Midrand on Thursday, Gauteng police said.
Inspector Moses Maphakela said members of the National Mobile training unit raided the scrap yard on Market street around 5pm on Thursday.
Police saw three large containers and found the copper cable inside.
Police then searched the yard and found three motor vehicle engines, cabling for a train and train tracks.
Police arrested a 21-year-old woman, the manager of the scrap yard.
A 44-year-old woman, believed to be a relative of the first woman, was later arrested.
Police were still on scene around 10pm.
Charges of dealing in copper and possession of stolen goods had been laid against the women.
More charges were expected to be added, said Maphakela.
