The Great Trek memorial is yet to be restored to its original location in Standerton, Mpumalanga, the Democratic Alliance said on Monday.
Provincial DA councillor Rosier de Ville said the memorial, which was destroyed at the mayor's instruction, would only be put back in front of the municipal offices in Standerton early next year.
"I am awaiting the municipality to return the 27 memorial pieces to me. As soon as I have it and I notice that it needs to be repaired I will give it through to experts if it needs repairing," said De Ville.
De Ville was expecting the memorial pieces "sometime this week".
The matter regarding the memorial was heard in Pretoria's Palace of Justice where last month a settlement was reached that the memorial would be restored.
The Standerton Action Committee, De Ville and AfriForum brought an application against the Lekwa municipality and its mayor, Queen Radebe-Khumalo.
They asked the court to rule that Radebe-Khumalo be ordered to rebuild a Great Trek memorial that she ordered to be destroyed.
