Perlemoen (abalone) with a street value of around R7.5-million was confiscated at a farm house outside Riviersonderend on Tuesday, Western Cape police said.

As part of the ongoing investigation into illegal perlemoen production, police gathered information that led to the obtaining and executing of a search warrant at a house on a farm, said Inspector Bernadine Steyn.

Police confiscated 32 700 dried abalone found in a room in the house.

A 22-year-old South African and two Chinese nationals aged 35 and 37 were arrested.

The three arrested men are expected to appear in the Caledon Magistrate's Court on Wednesday for illegal perlemoen possession.
