Six people died when two trucks collided on the N12 in Kareedouw in Eastern Cape, police said on Sunday.
A driver of a white Isuzu truck and his passengers were on their way from Cape Town to East London to deliver goods when it collided head-on with a truck on Saturday, said Inspector Gerda Swart.
"Five people, four men and a woman, died on the scene. Another man died at the Kareedouw hospital shortly after he was admitted," said Swart.
All the deceased are between the ages of 35 to 42. Only four of them have been accounted for.
"It is alleged that two people got a lift from the two different drivers. Their next of kin must still be traced," said Swart.
Anyone who might be able to assist can contact Constable Lamani from the Kareedouw police on 042-288-7100.
