Four men were arrested on Monday for car hijacking and possession of suspected stolen goods in Springs, Gauteng police said.
Spokesperson Captain Johannes Ramphora said two men allegedly hijacked a red Opel Corsa from a 24-year-old woman around 12.35am. "She was on her way home when she stopped at a robot and a man armed with a firearm approached her. He demanded money and ordered her to get out of the vehicle." Ramphora said the man was joined by another. They drove off, leaving the woman at the side of the road. The police's task team followed the suspects and arrested them around 8.20am in Tsakane. "We found the two suspects in a house with two other men. The house was searched, the Opel Corsa was recovered and motor vehicle parts were also seized from the house." Police arrested all four men, in their twenties and thirties. Two were charged with car hijacking and all four with possession of suspected stolen goods. They were expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
