The case against a woman arrested for possession of explosives was postponed to 1 December by the Mamelodi Magistrate's Court in Pretoria on Monday, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said.

"It is suspected that the incident is linked or related to activities of the ATM bombing syndicate," said NPA spokesperson Tlali Tlali in a statement.

The woman was arrested with four other men in Mamelodi East on Friday. However the four men were released as they couldn't be linked to the case.

She faced a charge of possession of illegal explosives. She would remain in police custody.
