At least 43 people were injured when a bus and a bakkie collided at an intersection in Vereeniging on Friday afternoon, police said.
Captain Shadu Mashobane said a bus and a bakkie collided at the intersection of Ascot on Vaal Road and Hendrick Van Eck Road in Vereeniging's Bedworth Park suburb.
The bakkie driver and the bus driver were reported to have sustained serious injuries, with the bakkie driver being taken to Medicity Hospital in Vereeniging.
The bus driver and his passengers were taken to Kopanong Hospital.
Mashobane said he did not have details on the extent of the injuries suffered by the passengers.
A case of reckless and negligent driving had been opened. Both the bus driver and the bakkie driver's actions would be investigated.
