A 45-year-old man was arrested in Lenasia for allegedly manufacturing and selling fake driver's licences, Johannesburg metro police said on Sunday.
Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the man sold the fake licences for R3500.
"Officers received a tip-off that the man, who is originally from Evaton, was selling fake licences from his car," he said.
When police got to Lenasia, they confiscated two fake drivers licences, papers used to take finger prints and an ink pad.
Minaar said the confiscated licences looked like lawful licence cards although they did not reflect on the system.
"You can only pick up that they are fake if you look closely. Otherwise they appear genuine," he said.
The arrested man was expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Monday, facing charges of fraud.
