The ANC urged the Zimbabwean government on Wednesday to determine the whereabouts of three activists who went missing in that country.

"Every effort should be made to establish where these individuals are, and that they are safe," the party said in a statement in Johannesburg.

Human rights activists Jestina Mukoko, Broderick Takawira and Pascal Gonzo of the Zimbabwe Peace Project were reported missing on Wednesday last week.

Mukoko has been missing since Wednesday last week, when she was said to be forcibly taken from her home at dawn.

Takawira and Gonzo were apparently taken from their place of work on the same day.

The ANC said: "We urge all parties in Zimbabwe to find a solution to the current political impasse as a matter of urgency."
