A Belgian tourist was killed in a car crash in the Eastern Cape at the weekend, police said on Tuesday.

Inspector Gerrie van Rooyen said Marc Limpenz (42), lost control of the vehicle he was driving to Willowmore in the Karoo area on Sunday afternoon.

"He died instantly," said Van Rooyen. "His body will be flown back to Belgium later in the week after a post mortem had been conducted."
