Two Pakistani men were arrested for kidnapping and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm in Boksburg on Thursday afternoon, police reported on Friday.
Captain Mack Mgomezulu said the men, aged 22 and 30, took a self-employed Cameroonian man at gun point from a parking lot and held him hostage.
The kidnappers reportedly wanted R60 000 in exchange for their victim.
The kidnapped man's brother was unable to raise the money and contacted police.
At about 5.30pm on Thursday, police traced and arrested the kidnappers and freed the Cameroonian.
