Two people were killed and two others were injured when their car capsized near the Bronkhorstspruit offramp on Saturday, Johannesburg police said.

Spokesperson Johannes Japhta said the driver in his late 40s, was travelling from Witbank with his two sons, one of them aged six, and his daughter when he lost control at the offramp around 11am.

"It appears as though he lost control at a curve just before he could get to the offramp. The car capsized and went into the bushes, killing the father and the elder son instantly," said Japhta.

"His daughter and 16-year-old son were taken to hospital with minor injuries."

The two have since been discharged. Police are investigating the incident, said Japhta.
