President Kgalema Motlanthe wants the ANC to eventually reunite with the ANC splinter group, the SABC reported on Sunday.

Motlanthe said he was optimistic that when the dust settled the ANC would engage the group led by Terror Lekota and Mbhazima Shilowa in a constructive manner.

If the policies of the splinter group were close to those of the ANC they would try to bring them back into the fold.

Motlanthe added that the ANC would continue to strive to unite South Africans.
