Two men were arrested for a gang related shooting that left a man and a woman injured in Kalksteenfontein, Cape Town police said on Saturday.

Sergeant November Filander said the men were arrested in Ranuncullus Street shortly after they shot the two people around 6pm on Friday.

"We received information about the shooting and we arrested them minutes afterwards. We believe that the shooting is gang related," said Filander.

Two firearms were confiscated during the arrest.

The injured people are being treated at a nearby hospital.

Their attackers, aged 22 and 27, are expected to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate's Court on Monday, on charges of attempted murder.
