Gauteng police have reported that two people believed to have been washed away in flash floods have been found alive on Wednesday.

The two, from Molofo Soweto, were found amongst another group of flood victims on Tuesday evening.

"They were part of the group who were rescued by Johannesburg Emergency Services and [South African Police Service]," said Superintendent Eugene Opperman.

"So it's a good news story," he said.

The flooding had claimed one life, an Alexandra man who was swept into the Juskei river on Tuesday.
