One person died and two others were critically injured on Saturday when a plane crashed onto a slope at the Cato Ridge airfield in KwaZulu-Natal, paramedics said. According to ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks, two other sky-divers managed to parachute to safety.

The two others that were injured were airlifted to St Annes hospital by a Netcare helicopter.

It was not immediately known what had gone wrong.
