A man who was admitted to a Durban hospital with cholera has died, KwaZulu-Natal health department spokesman Leon Mbangwa said on Sunday.

He was a truck driver who arrived in South Africa from Zimbabwe last week.

On Friday Mbangwa said the man had been placed in an isolation ward in Durban's Addington Hospital, was awake and "much improved".
