A pastor of a church in Ennerdale was arrested on Wednesday, a week after allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl, Johannesburg police said.

"The pastor and his wife had requested the epileptic girl to attend a church service with them following a prayer held at her home last week Tuesday. Her parents agreed," said Constable Edwin Ntsheo.

After the church service, arrangements were made by the pastor and his wife for the girl to sleep at one of their houses.

She and the pastor slept at one of the houses in Ennerdale while the wife went to sleep at another house, said Ntsheo.

"After she got into bed, the girl then alleges that the pastor came to her room, undressed and got into her bed, started to touch her and raped her. This apparently happened after the man asked a string of questions about whether she had a boyfriend and if she had had sex before," he said

The girl was raped again the following day after attending yet another church service with the pastor, who apologised and told her he loved her.

Ntsheo said the girl told the pastor's wife what had happened. Police were informed soon after girls' parents were informed.

The man was arrested and would appear in the Sebokeng Magistrate's Court on Thursday facing a rape charge.
