A woman died after her car fell almost 30 metres towards a railway line in Amanzimtoti in Durban on Sunday, emergency services said.
Spokesperson for Netcare 911 Chris Botha said the woman lost control of her Mazda RX7 at 7.10pm on the corner of Adams and Kingsway roads.
She first hit a substation and a taxi, before her car tumbled to the railway line.
"It came to a halt just before the railway line," said Botha.
The woman, who is believed to be in her late 30s, died instantly. Botha said she suffered internal as well as head injuries.
The taxi driver only suffered minor injuries and was treated on the scene.
Botha said the cause of the accident was not yet known and that no other vehicle was involved.
Traffic lights in the area were left out of order because of the damage to the substation, he said.
