An East London businessman was attacked at his warehousing and distribution company on Thursday on his return from the bank, said police.

Captain Mluleki Mbi said two men approached him as he drove through the gates to his premises in Wilsonia at 2pm.

He had just made a withdrawal from the bank.

They took the money - it was not known how much - and fled in his car, which was later found abandoned nearby.

Mbi said the possibility that the robbers followed him from the bank could not be ruled out.
