Eleven people were injured, including children, when a bakkie
they were travelling in rolled on Bottelary Road in Stellenbosch,
Western Cape police said on Sunday.
ER24 spokesperson Tristad Wadeley said the vehicle was heading
towards Kraaifontein when the accident occurred at 4.50pm on
Saturday,
"Eleven people were injured, three of which were in a serious
condition, four in a moderate condition and four sustained minor
injuries," he said.
"One of the critically passengers was airlifted to the Tygerberg
hospital while others were taken to the Stellenbosch provincial
hospital
The cause of the accident was not yet known, said Wadeley.
Meanwhile in another incident, a pedestrian in his 20s was taken
to hospital in a critical condition after he was hit by a car on
Postdam road in Du Noon on Saturday at 1pm.
"The patient was unconscious on arrival of emergency services
and advanced life support interventions were carried out to help
the patient breathe," said Wadeley.
"The man sustained a suspected head injury as well as fractures
to his
left arm and leg."
Police were investigating, he said.
