Captain Steady Nawa said an unknown number of people fed two Labradors and a Jack Russell terrier chicken necks laced with two-step poison (a pesticide called aldicarb) around 5am on Wednesday.
The dogs died after ingesting the poison and the thieves stole around R7000 worth of goods including a generator, a bicycle and a car radio, while the house residents were asleep.
Police called on anyone with information to call the Germiston Crime office on 011-871-5000.
Got something to say?
