A 72-year-old man from Port Elizabeth fell to his death in the India ravine on Table Mountain on Wednesday, SABC radio news reported.
The man was on a hiking trip with his eleven-year-old grandson when the accident happened.
Wilderness search and rescue spokesperson Kevin Tromp told the broadcaster: "Unfortunately the granddad took a wrong footpath and went off into India ravine. There is quite a nasty waterfall in India ravine. They started climbing the waterfall.
"The granddad, unfortunately, fell from the upper reaches of the waterfall and must have fallen about twenty metres to the foot of the waterfall," Tromp said.
