Three men were arrested after an armed robbery spree in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg on Friday.

Police spokesperson Inspector Katlego Mogale said at 8.30am on Friday three armed men attempted to rob a house in Ferndale but nothing was taken.

The men then proceeded to Robindale where they took jewellery after holding someone up in a driveway.

The men then went to Malanshof and held a woman at gunpoint, stealing a TV, microwave and jewellery from her home.

Not done yet, the robbers proceeded to a driveway on the corner of Oxford and Long street where they robbed a person of jewellery.

No-one was injured during the robberies.

On the corner of Jan Smuts and Republic Road in Randburg, the police's rapid response unit finally cornered the robbers while they were in their getaway car.

The robbers' getaway vehicle was traced as having been stolen in Honeydew in January this year.

Amongst items recovered was an unlicensed firearm, a knife, two cellphones and jewellery.

The men were arrested and will be charged with armed robbery and attempted murder. They are expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court soon.
