A second voter registration weekend will be held from 7 to 8 February 2009, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) said.

At the end of the previous voter registration weekend over 21.6 million people had registered to vote for the 2009 election with 1.6 million new voters registering, IEC chairperson Brigalia Bam said.

In order to register to vote you must apply for registration in person and have a bar-coded ID or a valid temporary identity certificate (TIC).
