Two automated teller machines were bombed near Nelspruit early Wednesday morning, Mpumalanga police said.
Captain Leonard Hlathi said 12 men allegedly blew up a Nedbank as well as a Capitec Bank ATM at the Kanyamazane shopping complex near Nelspruit around 1am.
It was suspected that dynamite was used to get at the cash. The gang however failed to get their hands on any money and fled in a black Toyota RunX.
Police were investigating and no arrests had been made.
