Paramedics were summoned on Friday morning when a Cape Town gardener got his head stuck in razor wire.

ER24 spokesman Tristan Wadeley said the incident happened in Lawson Road, Rondebosch East.

A member of the public with bolt cutters managed to cut the wire on either side so the man was no longer attached to the fence.

However, because of the way the wire had penetrated his head, paramedics did not want to remove the piece still lodged in the skin.

The 49-year-old man was taken, with the piece of wire still in his forehead, to Groote Schuur Hospital for it to be removed.
