South African actor Shaun Arnolds was killed when he attempted to cross a road in Stellenbosch, said Western Cape police on Monday.

The 42-year-old actor was hit by a bakkie when he attempted to cross an intersection in Cloetesville on Sunday. He did not use a pedestrian crossing, said Captain Renee Matheč.

Arnolds had acted in television programmes and movies in South Africa and abroad.

He was best known as Ougat in the SABC series Interrogation Room. He had also appeared in Fishy Feshuns, Madam & Eve, Charlie Jade, Going Up Again, Orion, Scandal!, Ella Blue, Shooting Stars and Malan en Kie.

He had also acted in movies such as Dollars and White Pipes, Heaven, and From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money.
