A 17-year-old boy has died from a stab wounds sustained over the weekend in a Kimberley club, Northern Cape police said on Friday.

"Last Saturday night a fight broke out among learners and other people at a club in the city.

"Twin brothers, both 17-years-old, were stabbed and seriously injured," said Superintendent Sam Sessing.

The brothers were taken to hospital.

The brother who had injuries to his chest was released from hospital on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the other brother died from injuries sustained to his head. Before dying, he had been declared brain dead, said Sessing.

"Because this incident was not reported to the police when the fight got violent and completely out of control, cases of attempted murder, murder and assault with intent to bodily harm were only reported at Kimberley police station after several other victims with stab wounds came forward," he said.

Several pupils had been questioned about the incident.

Sessing said police had arrested two 17-year-olds in connection with the attacks and both had been released into their parents' supervision.

Most of the pupils at the club were under the age of 18. It was not clear how they got access to the club and alcohol, said Sessing.
