Spokesperson Johannes Jaftha said the man was arrested at his house on Saturday, hours after the alleged rape took place.

"The girl was on her way home in the area, when she was approached by the suspect. He took her to his house, where he offered her food to eat," said Jaftha.

"Because he was known to her, she trusted him. After the meal he then forced her to his bedroom, where he raped her repeatedly."

Jaftha said the girl went home the next morning.

"Her mother suspected something wrong," said Jaftha.

The man was arrested and was expected to appear in the Cullinan Magistrate's Court on a charge of rape on Tuesday.
