Suspended ANC Overberg official Simphiwe Kalolo appeared briefly in the Hermanus Magistrate's Court on Monday for illegal possession of perlemoen.

Court officials said the case was postponed to 24 June for the State to supply the defence with further particulars.

Kalolo, who was the party's regional treasurer and a senior municipal official, has paid R10 000 bail.

He was driving a car emblazoned with ANC election stickers and a poster of Jacob Zuma last month when police stopped him and allegedly found more than 2400 perlemoen in black plastic bags.
