Hospital killer Samson Tsamago was sentenced to 18 years in prison by the Polokwane High Court on Tuesday for killing four Seshego hospital officials, SABC news reported.

Tsamago killed the hospital's chief executive officer, human resources manager, administration officer and an administration worker in October 2007.

This was after he had been dismissed from his job as driver at the hospital.

According to the SABC, when handing down the sentence, the judge said Tsamago deserved mercy because he had no previous criminal records.

Relatives of the slain officials expressed disappointment at the sentence.

"We are unhappy by the sentence handed down, our children lost their lives...The deceased left children behind who still need support. We are going to take action as we cannot simply walk away from the matter," said an unnamed relative.
