The African National Congress would follow the lekgotla deliberations and closely monitor the delivery progress agreed upon by government, especially implementation of the priority areas contained in the election manifesto, spokesperson Jessie Duarte said in a statement.
These were crime, education, rural development, land and agrarian reform, creation of decent work and sustainable livelihoods, health and education.
"The manifesto is the basis for the realisation of the mandate given to the ANC by the people of South Africa who overwhelmingly voted the ANC into power in the 2009 elections," she said.
Meaningful intervention in such areas as hospitals, clinics, schools and housing was paramount.
In particular, the ANC would like to see progress and clear timelines for delivery emanating from the lekgotla.
"Of concern to the ANC is government's success in implementing the five-year National Health Insurance System (NHIS), because of the impact it would have on the poor.
"The NHIS also seeks to ensure government's intervention in the high cost of health provision.
"We have noted the atmosphere characterised by strikes in the various sectors of our economy.
"We are convinced that labour, business and government will find a solution in the bargaining chamber deliberations," Duarte said.
