The poisoning of two dogs and the theft of solar panels from a Hartswater farm is being investigated, a Northern Cape police spokesperson said on Monday.

Superintendent Hendrik Swart said the two Boerboel dogs were poisoned on the farm Maanlig on Friday night.

He said it was later found that nine solar panels were stolen from the farm.

"It seems the panels were carried through a field to a waiting vehicle on a nearby road."

Swart said police were investigating a charge of malicious damage to property and a case of theft.

"The value of the dead dogs and the panels stolen amounts to more than R92 000," he said.
