The search continues for a 10-year-old girl who went missing from her home near Saldanha, Western Cape police said on Monday night.

"There have been no developments. We are continuing the search," said Superintendent Andre Traut said.

Motesha Kekana went missing from her home in the Iraq informal settlement near Saldanha on Thursday.

Earlier on Monday, a Saldanha man appeared in the Vredenburg Magistrate's Court for murder in connection with Kekana's disappearance.

The case has been postponed until 1 June and the man is detained until then.

Inspector Bernadine Steyn said police were in possession of evidence that she might have been murdered and that implicated the 32-year-old man.

The girl was seen walking with the man before her disappearance and the police later found her shoes in his possession.
