Two women were arrested after they were found selling fake Eskom electricity vouchers to unsuspecting customers in Temba, Pretoria police said on Wednesday.

Inspector Sarah Lesabane said the women, aged 35 and 45, were found in possession of a number of fake electricity vouchers and an undisclosed amount of cash, when they were arrested on Tuesday.

This follows a tip-off to Eskom by a victim who had gone to Eskom seeking an unlock code but was told his R330 voucher was a fake, said Lesabane.

The women were charged with fraud and will appear in the Temba Magistrate's Court.

The public was urged to contact their nearest police station if they were also defrauded, said Lesabane.
