A Tanzanian man was arrested in Durban on Thursday night for being in possession of heroin with an estimated street value of R3- million, police said.

Captain Thulane Zwane said the man, who was on a bus from Johannesburg to Durban, had 5kg of heroin in his bag. He was arrested at the Durban Station bus depot.

"We got information that he will be on the bus and arrested him," said Zwane.

No-one else was arrested and Zwane said police did not expect to make more arrests.

"We don't know if he was alone, but we only arrested him," said Zwane.

The man would appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Monday.
