Amor Vittone has finally broken her silence following the sex tape scandal, allegedly involving her husband, former Springbok captain Joost van der Westhuizen.

A tabloid magazine published photos this week of a man it claims is Van der Westhuizen engaged in sexual acts with another woman and using drugs.

Van der Westhuizen is adamant it is not him in the footage.

He claims it is a ploy to destroy his reputation.

On Thursday morning Vittone told Eyewitness News she was standing by her husband.

"I'm wholeheartedly, 100 percent behind my husband. I have gained a lot of respect, utmost respect for him in the way that he has dealt with the whole situation, so, I'm his wife and I love him lots. I am standing by him and I believe in him wholeheartedly," said Vittone.

She said she was trying to stay strong for her family.

"I have got to be strong for Joost now. I believe him and I believe in him, so he has got to be supported. You know, it?s been a difficult time and it has been hard on the kids so they obviously feel your tension or stresses and all that, so you got to be strong for the kids," said Vittone.
