Political opposition parties have lashed out at African National Congress Youth League leader Julius Malema, saying that they are outraged by his latest comments.

Malema labeled Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille a racist, colonialist and imperialist, adding that the party's chairperson Joe Seremane's role was to "smile at the madam".

He also lashed out at the Congress of the People, saying the organisation consisted of "angryists" who do not smile and said the Inkatha Freedom Party was Mickey Mouse.

Malema's statements sparked reaction and Seremane was enraged by the comments.

"You have no manners and you’re badly brought up. You are just like a snake who doesn't see who is an elder. Manners make a man, boy."

Cope Phillip Dexter said, "I'm not sure what Mr Malema means when he says we are angry and for saying that we don't smile. I'm saying right now he has made me smile."

ANC officials said they first need to speak to Malema before commenting on his remarks.
