Two men, one a Soweto school teacher, appeared before the Protea Magistrate's Court on a charge of raping a woman in Jabulani last year, Gauteng police said.

Inspector Kay Makhubele said the case was postponed to 8 July for further investigation and a bail application. The men were remanded in custody.

The two were arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman at the teacher's house in Jabulani in July 2008.

"The woman alleges that the two men offered her a lift from Roodepoort in July last year, but instead of taking her to her home, they drove with her to Soweto... a township she was not familiar with," said Makhubele said on Sunday.

On arrival at the teacher's home, the two men allegedly took turns raping the woman, with one of them pinning the woman down while the other raped her.

The woman had been "too traumatised" to report the case at the time and had instead opted to live with relatives in KwaZulu-Natal.

"But on Saturday she reported the case, saying the two men should be punished for raping her. We are now investigating circumstances surrounding the alleged rape," Makhubele had said.
